A Year of Tooling Innovation – Looking Back at 2017

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

What a great year it has been! Thank you to our customers, partners, and employees for making 2017 another banner year for Leitz USA. We’re looking back at our top moments in 2017, the posts and stories that you liked the most, and looking forward to another great year in 2018.

Intelligent Tooling took the stage at Ligna 2017 and will continue to be a factor for innovation in 2018 and beyond. Mike Lind, Leitz CEO, discusses the role of the tool maker in intelligent tooling and how intelligent tooling benefits production with CCI media editor Karl Forth in this webinar originally recorded in June.

We were proud to join the prestigious group of Visionary Award Winners at the AWFS 2017 Fair in July. The innovative, new BrillianceCut Circular Saw Blade won the 2017 Visionary Award in the Tooling category at the AWFS 2017 Fair. Leitz BrillianceCut circular saw blades eliminate the need for grinding or polishing for acrylic glass (PMMA), polycarbonate panels (PC), and other plastics and compound materials, saving you the time and expense of additional finishing work.

To complement an already strong offering for kitchen and bath cabinet makers, we launched the MDF Door Program, offering the industry a line of standard, off-the-shelf, precision diamond-tipped router tooling. This selection of contemporary tools is much more economic, offering significantly longer life and the possibility of multiple re-sharpenings when compared to insert tooling. Profiles can be mixed and matched to create a wide variety of door designs. Economic custom profiles are also available upon request.

The ProfilCut Q Diamond is another product breakthrough – it is the fastest diamond insert tool system, with approved cutting speeds of 120 meters/second. Tools such as ProfilCut Q Diamond, which offers constant profile and diameter, greatly reduce machine downtime due to tool changes and recalibration. The ability to produce 50% faster, due to higher allowable cutting speeds, reduces total machine and operator production costs.

With the addition of the Reno, Nevada service facility, Leitz expanded our US operations in late 2017. We have our customers to thank for our continued growth. Without your dedication to quality and innovation, we would not have these milestones to celebrate.

Lastly, the Leitz Lexicon Edition 7 industry resource manual is now available in both print and PDF versions.  This premier reference book is used by thousands of manufacturers to maximize the efficiency, productivity, and longevity of their tools. The Lexicon is also available for download from our Web site at http://leitztooling.com/downloads/leitz-lexicon-v7.pdf

What do you see on the horizon for 2018? Leitz CEO, Mike Lind sat down with CCI Media to talk current industry trends at AWFS 2017 – what do you think the future holds for our industry? > https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3M2r9D5iZs&feature=youtu.be

We wish you a safe and happy holiday season – see you in the New Year!
